Narrow decision on Route 22 bridgeQ: It seems very short-sighted to replace the existing Route 22 bridge over the Lehigh River with a new bridge of inadequate width. If the existing bridge is structurally sound, it should be retained to handle traffic flow while a second bridge is being built. Each of the resulting bridges would be wide enough to accommodate three lanes, and a possible future fourth lane, plus a shoulder. This seems to make economic sense to me. You have to build only one new four-lane bridge, but end up with an eight-lane capacity roadway.

Crossing with cartsQ: What are the rules regarding the 'golf cart crossing' on Limeport Pike in Upper Saucon Township, at Wedgewood Golf Course? There are white lines painted across the road with warning signs and yellow flashing lights. The speed limit is 45 mph. If this is a golf cart crossing, carts should cross there only, not anywhere along the roughly 900-foot span of the road along the golf course. Do the laws that apply to pedestrian crossings apply to this crossing? I think cars should stop only for golf carts as specifie d, and the carts should cross only at the marked area. I'm afraid there will be an accident, as everyone seems to interpret the rules differently.

222 Bypass merge spot yields difficultiesQ: There's a dangerous situation where the northbound Route 222 bypass intersects with I-78 just past the Bieber Bus Terminal. Some drivers on the bypass wishing to get on 78 eastbound don't seem to understand that drivers already in the right lane, after crossing Kressler from Hamilton Boulevard, do not have to yield. There are no yield signs, so I believe those wishing to enter the right lane must yield to those already in that lane. When I'm in the right lane, someone speeding along on the bypass assumes that I should slow down to let them in. I say they should adjust their speed accordingly (sometimes slower, and yes, sometimes faster) and safely merge. When they realize I'm not going to allow them to cut me off, I get the usual immature gesture or horn-honk from these 'me first' folks. Please inform your readers that the person changing lanes has the responsibility to do it safely and legally.
